Membership Application

To join ADIAFP you must :

1) be in agreement with our aims, which are to:

  1. work for the preservation of the French Act of Parliament n°57-32 dated January 10, 1957 laying down the statutes of Agence France-Presse;
  2. pursue an open and democratic campaign against any and all projects seeking to abolish or water down the said statutes, be it by turning the Agency into a state company or by privatising it;
  3. work towards the drawing-up and implementation of a true General Interest Mission for the Agency, to apply to all its working languages and all its forms of journalistic production;
  4. campaign for the preservation of the full range of activities laid down for the Agency in its 1957 statutes, ie the collecting, editing and distribution of a complete, objective, precise,  impartial and trustworthy news service;
  5. support and take part in all public initiatives likely to promote the above-mentioned aims and principles;
  6. support initiatives seeking to combat excessive concentration in the media sector, and to defend the independence of the press generally.

2) pay an annual fee of:

  • normal membership: 20 euros
  • unemployed, students, other low income: 10 euros
  • benefactor: 50 euros or more

Whichever method you prefer, we ask you to send us your membership fee (with the form if relevant) by postal mail to ADIAFP, 1 rue Mouton-Duvernet 75014 Paris, France.

If you are unable to pay with a euro-denominated cheque on a French bank, we ask you to send us an international money order. Payments to be made out to l'ADIAFP.

NB: French data protection law

Members are informed that the association keeps the information they provide on a computer file. The said information is required for membership, and intended for the association's secretariat.
Under the terms of the French Data Protection Law of January 6, 1978, each member has a right to access and request changes to the information we hold on them. All details you provide will remain confidential; if you either leave the association or decide not to follow through with your membership application, all the information concerning you will be deleted from our files.
